Watch Out! (2)

If you think Midwest is an acceptable place for nature photographers, you might be delusional...

This poor Mama owl and 2 babies nesting in a dead tree have been facing more than 10 big tripods + long lenses each day for the past few weeks.  No wonder Mama was in high alert!!  The unknown place is called Batavia, IL.  After spending 6+ hours last weekend with these owls, I forced myself not to go again this weekend. Sanity restored… temporarily!!

Watch Out!

It was a 3-hour ordeal - standing in the cold winds wondering where Spring is...

Postcards from the Southern Ocean

The long awaited postcards from our Antarctica trip have finally all arrived.  For those of you who enjoy reminiscing our non-digital way of life from 30 years ago, if you ever go to explore the southern ocean, make sure that you stop by the 3 most famous post offices at the bottom of the world.  AND, of course, make sure that you bring the mailing addresses...

I remember being soooo well prepared for everything for the trip, except that... I did not write down Michelle's mailing address in Boston.  While spending 22 days in the southern ocean without cell connections, at each post office, I carefully wrote messages on a postcard to Michelle and mailed it to her childhood home in Naperville -:))

Picture 1 = Postcard from Folkland Island.  Mailed out on 1/31/18, and arrived on 2/17/18.  Traveled 18 days.

Picture 2 =  Postcard from South Georgia.  Mailed out on 2/4/18, and arrived on 3/29/18.  Traveled 54 days.

Picture 3 = Postcard from Antarctica.  Mailed out on 2/13/18, and arrived on 4/13/18.  Traveled 59 days.

More on "The Paradise"

It seems like an impossible task and an unending process to get all my Antarctica photos organized... even 2 months after the trip!

I would not call it a photography trip because it's really difficult to focus on "photography."  But, as always, the real-life experience is far more valuable than "photography."  Looking back, I did try my best to document the trip. Yeah, they are no more than travel records...

Chasing Ice... (2)

I have come to realize that my fascination about ICE is getting "out of control..."

Chasing Ice...

A month after coming back from Antarctica, I couldn't resist the temptation to go out searching for ice again.  Went to UP Michigan last weekend and saw A LOT of ice... in late March!  By the way, all photos were taken while standing on frozen Lake Michigan.
