Life
can be likened to an endless rang of mountains, with peaks and valleys,
inclines and descents, and always more peaks ahead to climb. You and I
each climb the "Mount Everest" in our own lives, "because it's there"
and also for the sheer exhilaration of testing our knowledge, skill, and
courage.
I have always felt the word “retired” was misspelled. The word should be “retried”, or perhaps, “reinspired.” “Retired” implies a concluded career or could mean tired again, or tired for the final time. A commencement ceremony after one career or a major achievement should bring the anticipation of another peak experience ahead, challenging and enriching our bodies, minds, and souls in new, creative pursuits, different from any we may have experienced or imagined before.
